A couple of weeks back I visited Pakwan-Food Tradition at Wakad with my team from office. We had seen a few posts about the Pakwan Special Thaal and were eager to try it out.
The Special Thaal was brought to the table held by 2 people, with one more person ringing a bell while it came – the show before the food is almost as entertaining as the food it self – the food more than overshadows the show!
The thaali we had consisted of – wait for it –
- Daal baati
- 4 vegetables (bhindi, paneer, gatte, mixed veg)
- 2 types of dal (makahani and yellow) and kadi
- 4 types of roti (chapati, tandoori roti, bhakri with gud/ghee, masala puri)
- 2 types of desserts (gulab jamun, rabdi)
- jeera rice
- masala papad, roast papad
- 4 types of farsaan
Every single item was deliciously prepared – we ordered more rounds for most of the items. definitely one of the best veg thalis I have had in Pune.
Service was warm, quick and very attentive. They were happy to explain what was in each bowl, and paid attention to each one of us. We sat on 2 tables – 6 guys and 5 ladies.
We ordered 2 thaals across 11 people. the guys table comfortably wiped the thaal clean, and ordered several extra vaatis of everything. The ladies could barely get through 70%
Each thaal cost 2000/-. We paid 4200/- for 11 people (including bottles of water). @ ~380/- per head for some delicious veg food, this is a great deal!
PS: They also have smaller thaals, as well as an extensive alacarte menu.
A great pure veg restaurant for families/friends group – this experience is totally worth it!
